Members of the Diaconate are to be individuals worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as members of the Diaconate. Diaconate members are also to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything, as well as full of spirit and wisdom. (1 Timothy 3:8-13, Acts 6:2-3)
Deacons at Surv Church:
The Diaconate is charged with being responsible for serving those in distress and need; they oversee and carry out their work as those concerned with the redemption of humankind. The Diaconate may be given various responsibilities that would free the elders to carry on their ministries without being bogged down with things that a deacon should be doing. The Diaconate board maintains and disburses funds from the deacons fund to meet the fiscal and material needs of those in the congregation.
